Minus one star for the lack of variety of sushi even though we ordered a NTD 3k lunch set. I believe 3k is a pretty high price point for lunch set in Taipei in general, but did not feel like the food we ate was worth the hype. We were served 3-4 warm appetizers to start, then 6 nigiris... miso soup, and finished with fruits. That was it.
One less star because the entire meal nigiri was not prepared by the master chef himself, rather, our entire nigiri menu was prepared by the sous chef... that was truly disappointing, I couldn’t help but wonder if it was because we ordered the cheapest lunch set.
Lunch starts from 3k-5k, and omakase 8k-12k.
Would only recommend if you’re prepared to drop over NTD 5k+ for sushi lunch in Taipei.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nigiri set menu with some creative Taiwanese flourishes (eg Shaoxing wine with sweet shrimp and liquified Uni) in a spacious, comfortable space. Presiding chef is from the once institution Sasa and while his creations here are simple, he blends tastes well and has the occasional surprise.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Sushi Ryu lives up to Michelin start in Taipei. And I would said they deserve it. Taipei is packed with chef menu Japanese places with the same pricing... but sushi Ryu they got their own authentic sushi menu that I never had in Taipei. Very creative with ingredients combination, I was amazed by uni with 紹興酒（a Chinese spirit). I won’t say that it cheap, but is worth of money!
Many great sake selection, they even got the Juyondai sake! Which is the perfect pairing choice with your sushi!
Great service!
Must come!

And the place is very hard to find, in some back alley, and I thought the place was closed ? but inside is cozy and posh. The chefs are friendly, service was impeccable and I was so stuffed.
Food is definitely filling and delicious. Like the sake.
The star was the uni and tuna. Must try!
