Wenchang Temple, where the incense is flourishing, is the best place for many parents to crawl before exams...^_^ There are many people visiting the shrine, and the admission tickets and tributes are also varied! In the temple, there is a golden paper for the blessing of Emperor Wenchang. Although there are many people, the service staff is still very polite to explain, and the attitude is very good~ Next to the temple is the Nantun Market, which is very big and worth visiting. You can also buy tributes in the market and then visit the temple, which is very convenient!

The temple is located at No. 100 Wenchang Street, Nantunli, Nantun District. Nantun District used to be a hunting ground for the Pingpu Papusan Maowu Society. After the Qing Dynasty (1684), the Han people entered the Reclamation Risheng. In the fourth year of Yongzheng (1726), they reclaimed and established the Wanhe Palace (now Wanhe Palace). No. 51, Section 1, He Road, Shiding Historic Site), dedicated to Mazu. The local area was the midway station between the former half-line city (now Changhua) and Huludun Street (now Fengyuan). It was famous for making ploughshares and other agricultural tools, so it was called "Litoudian Street." According to the Qing Daoguang’s "Changhua County Chronicles" Vol. 5 "Sidianzhi", before the Qing Daoguang, there were seven Wenchang Emperor’s shrines in Changhua County. It can be seen that the "Litoudian Wenchang Temple" was initiated by Sui Gong Zeng Yuyin in the second year of Jiaqing (1797). Together with the Wenchang Temple outside Xiluo Street, it was the earliest Wenchang Emperor's Temple established in Changhua County. It is now Taichung. The birthplace of regional culture. At the beginning of its establishment, the family members of the Jian family donated the base in the name of Jian Huiyi, the ancestor of the Hongyuan I and Jian Guixin, the ancestor of Nanjing, and raised funds from Sui Gong Zeng Yuyin. "Litoudian Wenchang Temple" is the name of the temple. According to the ancestral society organization recorded in the "Religious Accounts" in the 13th year of the Taizheng year (1924), the "Xinlan Society" was founded by Chen Rixin in the 19th year of Jiaqing (1814). In the 24th year of Jiaqing (1819), Zhang Tiande initiated the establishment of "Tengqi Ji" (also known as Wenlin Society). In the 6th year of Tongzhi (1867), the "Chongwen Society" was established. In the 2nd year of Guangxu (1876), the "Daguan Society" was initiated and founded by Chen Jihui, a school in Wuri District. The cooperatives raised funds to purchase the land, and the rent and harvest income were set up in the wing of the Wenchang Temple. Local scholars were hired to teach, promote the local style of writing, and cultivate talents. The township examinations are held twice a year in Wenchang Temple, and awards (tuition fees) are awarded to encourage local talents to come out in large numbers and enjoy the prestigious reputation of the birthplace of culture in Taichung. The Daguanshe is the only surviving ancestral hall in this temple. A festival is held in the temple on August 10th of the lunar calendar every year. After Yiwei (1895) ceded, Taiwan and Penghu became Japanese colonies. In the thirty-first year of the Meiji era (1898), the temple was borrowed as the school building of "Litoudian Public School." The textual research on the structure and area of Wenchang Temple, according to the "Religious Accounts" surveyed during the Taisho period of the Japanese rule, has developed into a northeast facing southwest. The three-bay main hall has a pavilion and two side rooms on the left and right. There is a wall in front of the temple. The building is about 94 pings in total, and the whole area is about 660 pings. The temple area is magnificent. At that time, the only gods enshrined were three statues: Emperor Zitong, Emperor Zhuyi, and King Kuidou.

There are three major Guandi temples in Taichung City. The "Wenchang Temple" located behind the Wanhe Palace in Nantun is only 50 years old (completed in 1972), but its history can be traced back to the Jiaqing period of the Qing Dynasty (1797). The temple has the longest history, and there are many antiquities preserved in the Qing Dynasty in the temple. However, the most eye-catching of Wenchang Temple is the golden statues of Sakyamuni Buddha and Guan Shengdijun sitting around the temple. From the second master Guan holding Chunqiu in his hand, it is not difficult to guess that the main purpose here is to let you take a 100% exam. Moreover, the five gods of Wenchang are worshipped here at the same time, so that candidates can get five times the blessing at one time. For tourists who are not candidates, Nantun Old Street - Wanhe Palace - Wenchang Temple can be organized as a half-day heritage food tour.

Currently under construction, the temple is gorgeous and will be even more so once it is completed. The market next to the temple is also worth checking out.
