Xuantian God was an important belief in the Ming Dynasty and was worshipped by the emperors of the Ming Dynasty. After Zheng Chenggong's troops came to power, they built many temples of Xuantian God[Note 2][1][5][2]. Jiuling, where the Tainan North Pole Hall is located, is the highest place in the Fourth Square of Chengtianfu (the area of ​​Taiwan Fucheng in the Qing Dynasty)[2][1]. It is said that the location of the North Pole Hall used to be a Chinese medical center during the Dutch period. When Zheng Jun attacked Taiwan, he occupied it to treat wounded soldiers. Later, the medical center was converted into the North Pole Hall[Note 3][1][2][4]. The exact date of the establishment of the Tainan North Pole Hall is unknown, but the local chronicles of the Qing Dynasty often used the term "pseudo-shijian" [1]. However, because of the date of the inscription on the plaque of King Ningjing, it can be seen that the North Pole Hall already existed before the twenty-third year of the Yongli calendar (1669).
