Taipei Fish Market

A traditional whole sale market within the quite old and shabby structure. Not friendly to customers.

First time and I love it! The atmosphere is awesome! The seafood are fresh and tasty.

Note to all tourists, this is a wholesale market that's only open in the morning and probably not what you are looking for! Many of the pictures here are not uploaded to the right place. Look up Addiction Aquatic Development in Songshan for the correct one.

A wonderful place to enjoy cheap and fresh sushi and seafood. All thanks to Linda for being our guide in Taiwan. I feel this is the highlight of our trip. I thought the oyster at Morton's was unbeatable but the oyster could match the oyster there. It was big, succulent and fresh and you can still taste abit of the saltiness from the sea-water. This is definitely the highlight of day (4.5/5) Seafood don (4/5) I share the seafood don with Linda as we wanted to keep our stomach for other things haha. The rice was good - Japanese rice, big, almost round and shiny. The chef will choose the seasonal seafood and put it into together. The whole bowl was full of different sashimi, salmon roe, sakura prawns, scallop. Its definitely be the champ if a crab claw or Alaskan king leg was inside. Thats not all, the salmon miso soup that accompany the rice was super nice. A pity they had different station serving different things like grill, sushi, seafood platter and beef and you cant eat them at 1 station. Next time, I would try their beef and the Alaskan king leg which we didnt get to try.

This is a wholesale fish market... I think some of the photos are from the fish market near Songhsan Airport... this market is a wet market with vendors selling wholesale fish. You can buy as a consumer too! Amazing prices on fresh fish if you are used to US prices. Lots of Salmon, Cod, Snapper, Squid and others. You must get here early. By 10:30 it is winding down... opens very early (before 6:30AM)... you can also buy fruits and veggies next door.

There is a sit down sushi bar within the fish market but the prices are on the high end. In front of the sushi bar, they have boxed sushi which I uploaded a picture of what we bought for 2 people. Sushi was very fresh and the price was significantly cheaper than at the bar. I would definitely recommend coming here when in Taipei. Memorable experience.

Another great fish market in Taipei. Only caveat, since this is a wholesale market, they get started early. If you arrive later at most traditional dawn markets in Taiwan, you run the risk of popular items selling out. This is true of produce and doubly true of seafood. So get here at 6AM... 5AM is even better. Otherwise, some of the more exotic items will have been sold before you can even see them. If you sleep late, go to Binjiang Market.
