Taishanyan, New Taipei City, commonly known as Dingtaishanyan, Dingmiao or Qizaijiao Temple, is the family symbol of the Li family of Taishan Xianjing during the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty (1754). The treasure statue of Xianying Patriarch (the ancestor) came to Taiwan for worship. The temple was originally named "Fushanyan". In the third year of Xianfeng in the Qing Dynasty (1853), it was tragically burned by soldiers due to a classified and armed battle. Later, it was rebuilt by the "Qigu" of the Li family. It was renamed "Taishan Rock" in 1874; the current scale of the temple was planned and constructed during the Japanese occupation of the Showa Period (1932-1935) by the famous carpenter Chen Yingbin and his apprentice Huang Guili. The wood and stone carvings, painted paintings and other decorations in the temple are based on traditional folk tales or novels, such as twenty-four filial piety, mother-in-law tattoos, ancestor praying for rain to relieve drought, Huarong Tao Guan Gong Shi Cao, Guan Gong fights Huang Zhong to take Changsha, etc.; these In addition to being rich in artistic beauty, the works also have the function of social enlightenment. The common name of Xianying's ancestor was Huang Huisheng; because praying for rain and drought was effective, he was called the yellow water wheel. Born in the 2nd year of Yuan Fu in the Northern Song Dynasty (1099) in Yongchun County, Fujian Province, he has been practicing Taoism since childhood. He is proficient in Zen and has many talents. In the 6th year of Xuanhe of the Northern Song Dynasty (1124), he wandered to the Jiean on the summit of Cuiping Mountain in Anxi Hutou Khanli. Because of his successful cultivation, he solved many problems for the local people. The local people were grateful for his grace, and after his death, they planned to build a temple to commemorate him. The name of the temple is "Taishan Rock", which is also called "Taishan Temple." According to legend, in the 32nd year of Shaoxing in the Southern Song Dynasty (1162), the imperial court awarded him "Master Xianying Puji", and was called "Master Xianying" by the people. On the 18th day of the ninth month of the lunar calendar in Benyan every year, ceremonies are held to celebrate the birthday of Master Xianying. In 1994 (2005), 34 years have passed since the last large-scale renovation (1971). The temple was eroded by years of wind and frost, and the tiles and beams were rotted and leaked during rain. The Cultural Affairs Bureau of Taipei County Government hosted the "Taipei Under the county's third-level historic site Dingtai Mountain Rock Restoration Project, large-scale renovations were carried out again. The project was completed in 1997, and the opening ceremony of the construction ceremony was held the following year. Benyan is committed to carrying forward the patriarch’s spirit of helping all living beings, combined with government agencies and benevolent people, to organize many public welfare and charitable activities every year to enhance the function of social enlightenment and promote social harmony and happiness.
