★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 貢寮與雙溪交界處，立有一座雙澳公路竣工紀念塔，此塔民國四十年十一國民革命軍陸軍第十八軍屬琴水部隊鳩工興建雙澳公路，立碑於嶺頭觀日步道口留念，距今已有60餘年的歷史，可見雙澳公路早在民國四十年就打通。
依紀念塔上的記述，此塔主要紀念當年的琴水部隊建造雙澳公路，塔尖處四面都有國徽，下端四面刻有「繼往開來 王志任 題」、「雙澳公路興建記」與「琴水部隊興建雙澳公路竣工紀念塔」碑文，碑文已經模糊，大致可以看出上面寫著興建的緣由與開路的單位，上面有寫：三四四二、三四五五部隊一起開闢公路，還有「琴水部隊」等字樣。
