★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 三地門鄉，源自排灣語「timur」，閩南移居此開墾的漢人以閩南語諧音稱之「山豬毛」或「山地門」。1935年，日本將排灣族Timur、Talavatsal、Salalau三社居民遷移到今日的三地門，並規畫為棋盤街道聚落。當時屬高雄州屏東郡管轄，稱為「サンティモン」。
光復後初期改設高雄縣三地盟鄉，1947年易名為「三地鄉」，1950年改隸新設之屏東縣，1992年8月更為今名。
Sandimen Township originates from the Paiwan language "timur". The Han people who migrated here from the south of Fujian have been called "mountain pig hair" or "mountain gate" in the Hokkien homonym. In 1935, Japan relocated residents of the Paiwan clan Timur, Talavatsal, and Salalau to today's Sandimen, and planned to be a settlement of chessboard streets. At that time, it was under the jurisdiction of Pingtung County, Kaohsiung Prefecture, and was called "サ ン テ ィ モ ン".
In the early days after the restoration, it was renamed the Sandi League Township of Kaohsiung County. In 1947, it was renamed "Sandi Township". In 1950, it was renamed Pingtung County, which was newly established in August 1992.
