The present Yunlin area once had a court in the early days of Taiwan’s Japanese rule. In 1896, Taiwan changed to civil administration. A court named Yunlin District Court was established, but Xuan was abolished on November 15, 1897, and related judicial cases were taken over by Chiayi District Court. On July 1, 1898, it was again managed by the Taichung District Court. After the Governor's Office revised the "Taiwan Governor's Office Court Regulations" on July 19, 1898, there were only three local courts in Taiwan. Cases in the Yunlin area were now under the jurisdiction of the Chiayi Branch of the Tainan District Court in November 1901. From October 25, 1909 to January 7, 1919, the Chiayi branch office was reduced to a registration office, and cases in the Yunlin area were now under the direct jurisdiction of the Tainan District Court. On August 8, 1919, the Chiayi Branch of the Tainan District Court was established. Judicial cases in the territory of Yunlin County (to the end of the Japanese occupation, Douliu County, Huwei County, and Beigang County) were transferred to this branch for trial. After the Second World War, the national government took over Taiwan. On March 1, 1947, the Chiayi District Court was established, and its jurisdiction includes Yunlin County and Chiayi County. On April 15, 1956, the Yunlin Court of Taiwan’s Chiayi District Court was established in Huwei Town, Yunlin County to accept the 4 townships of Beigang Town, Sihu Township, Kouhu Township and Shuilin Township in Yunlin County (the 4 townships plus Yuan Chang The township is the civil case of 16 townships other than Beigang County during the Japanese Occupation; and the civil cases of the 4 townships and criminal cases of all townships are still accepted by the Chiayi District Court. Because the office of Yunlin Court was too small, there was a proposal to establish an independent court. On July 1, 1964, this court was formally established and the area under its jurisdiction covers the entire territory of Yunlin County. In 1965, the construction of the hospital was started and completed in the same year, and it moved into the office on December 28 of the same year. The building is still in use today.
