Thai J- Taichung

I had lunch alone at Thai J Taichung yesterday. The place was highly decorated to look like a restaurant with good service, but the service left much to be desired. The young chap at the front door who was supposedly there to welcome customers was perpetually lost in his handphone. The young female waitress who showed me to my table did not even bother come to take my order or give me a box for my big handbag until I asked for her to do so on both accounts, while the two tables with customers have each more than a box for their belongings. There was a little note on the table saying customers could enjoy a NT$100 discount by scanning the QR quote and join as friend of the restaurant which the cashier did not honor, saying this discount was for consumption above NT$1000. If that is the case, it should be written in the note but it was not. In all fairness, the Thai noodle and the Thai milk tea I had were nicely prepared.

Massively disappointed! Complete failure. It started from the disinterested welcome upon arrival by the young man at the desk. Then we placed our order, clearly pointing at all the relevant foods to ensure they knew our choices, my husband's food arrived, all meat so we couldn't share. We were surprised that mine didn't come at the same time, but understood it was a different choice so may take longer. My husband had almost finished his food and we started to think this is a ridiculous delay, so questioned where my food was, turns out they forgot it & advised they'd prepare it. Eventually it arrives and it looks far from a prawn green curry ~ it was a pork curry. I don't eat meat, again by showing him on the menu that I'd ordered PRAWN ~ he rushed off with the food, 15~20 mins later came back with my meal,3rd time lucky nope this time he'd brought me beef curry. I call him over again and felt quite upset I said this is BEEF I don't eat meat I asked you for prawns ~he said no prawns!!! I left having had no food it was an appalling service. The menu is clear~ I was clear the staff are not. I was so disappointed as it had the potential to be a lovely night.

Food is tasty, but the portions are quite small and relatively expensive. Minimum 400 NT per person. It’s somewhere you bring a loved one for a special occasion, to enjoy the flowery ambience; but not if you are looking for a hearty meal. All in all it is an above average Thai restaurant, with above average cost.

My brother tends to avoid eggplants, but the first dish with eggplants amazes him. It is really tasty and appetizing. The green curry and chicken is spicier than those I tasted in Bangkok, and it is delicious too. As the red curry and duck, I like the tender texture of the meat. All in all, though the price is bit high, I would like to deem it a nice dining experience.

The decoration is very beautiful. The restaurant is located at first floor of the mall. Food all taste very good. very impressive
