The Gundam Base

Been a huge fan of Gundam since young and was pleasantly amazed by this store. It has Gunpla kits limited to only Gundam Base stores and also all the rare MG, PG kits that you can find. Absolutely amazing! Also this review is completely unbiased.

There's so many Gundam action figure, tools for action figure, effects and not just Gundam action figure also they have some action figure like One Piece, Pokémon, etc.

Good for Gundam Base exclusive kits, but the selection still pales in comparison to Gundam Base in Japan. Non-exclusives are ridiculously overpriced. Come to buy the exclusives; other hobby shops sell the non-exclusives for much cheaper price. For a specialized Gunpla store they don't have much in terms of painting supplies either.

Little pricey, but the dioramas is the best part of the store. Enjoy the sick gundams and how they're set up

Maybe it’s due to product shortage, but the Taiwan Gundam Base seems smaller than the last time I came here 2 years ago. There was very little stock of non Gundam Base exclusives. None of the new releases could be found. Very few water slide decals in stock. Pretty lack lustre.

It's great that this store exists in Taipei. It has some exclusive kits that would not otherwise be available elsewhere. The store is quite spacious and has a variety of kits to choose from, whether it be MG, HG, or SD kits. However, if you're looking for older kits, this isn't the place to do so. It mostly stocks more recent or popular kits. The biggest negative is that the prices can be quite high, sometimes asking double of what other smaller shops might ask for. The prices for the exclusive kits aren't too bad, however, having to pay twice the price for a regular release HG kit is criminal. Hopefully there's a sale going on when you go.

Good if your mainly into Gunpla but that's about it. Mind you, I'm has hardcore as Gundam fans get but overall, even for me it was meh. It's a spacious store thats located on the 6th floor of a newer department store. Presentation was nice, exterior store wallpaper is that of a side profile of the White Base, entrance has a human sized RX-0 Unicorn Gundam, multiple glass cases with completed kits. Various Gunpla lines are carried at this location and almost a quarter of the store was dedicated to their "The Gundam Base Limited". Price point is where it falls flat. This is Taiwan, lots of model stores around that carry Gunpla with solid prices. So the only thing worth even picking up here is "The Gundam Base Limited" line if that's what you're into. Didn't see a single Gundam action figure like ones from the newly launched Gundam Universe line or the long running Robot Damashii line. There were hobby tools including Gundam Markers also carried here but you guessed it, uppriced as well. While taking pictures I was warned by an employee "no recording" which was a what the?! moment. Like said, disappointing even for a long time fan.
