Spend last 5 weeks here and defnitely love this place. It is managed in way to minimise intrusion and maximise conveniences, a lot of the guys are local Taiwanese who work nearby and use this place as a dorm. That presents some interesting opportunity to interact with these locals.

This is a pretty cool place to live in, the staff is good - Janet especially is always helpful, and location is close to local eatery,breakfast places and Raohe Night Market - one of the most vibrant when it comes to food and clothes, and Meeting Place is one of the most economical around Taipei, they have a big projector for films and laptops for guests to use, hot shower and usually cool travelers from around the world to meet! PS: Recently there is an accident regarding the heater that caused a fire and a staff is slightly hurt - but nobody wanted that to happen, hopefully Micheal is good and this incident deters future guests to stay over!

Hot and smelly in the summer (i stayed in June) due to their refusal to use AC during the day. It kicks in at like 12 am so you can sleep a little,but it still is very hot. Good location near 2 metro lines, but I recommend elsewhere.

Wow where do I start :-) AMAZING!! Having travelled Asia for 6 months and disliked many of the hostels I stayed in the meeting place was like a breath of fresh air! Without a doubt the best hostel I've stayed in during my trip! Love love love it!!!! This is why: - feels like home!! Never experienced a hostel where I felt so comfortable and happy in! Huge living room with comfy sofas where people can hang out and watch films etc on huge screen. Everyone is so friendly and helpful! Dave the owner is fabulous gave me so much great info about Taiwan and always there to help with everything you need! - perfect location! Right next to songshan train station (rika night market) - so clean! Everything is spotless all the time!! Everytime you walk in someone is scrubbing the floors! ;-) - cheap!!! So much cheaper than many of the hostels in Taiwan! - lovely spacious dorm room, aircon, with really comfy bed, duvet and pillow = great night sleep - super fast wifi - Every little thing that makes your stay easier and more comfortable the meeting place has it covered! (E.g toiletries for shower and more! Hair dryer, washing machine, fluffy towels, tea/coffee facilities, storage facilities etc etc etc!! Thank you meeting place!! Nia :)

One of the most affordable accommodations around at TWD 7000 per month for a lower bunk or TWD 6500 per month for an upper bunk. Younger set of people to share with. Helps to be a dog person as there are two annoying dogs here. One barks irritatingly when people walk in the door. The other always bothers you for food. As for me, I am a cat person. The cleaning is so so with many surfaces dust covered.

This is my first time staying in a hostel and I had a lot of fond memories at The Meeting Place. The hostel (dormitories, bathrooms, toilets) is clean, equipped with firm mattress for a good night's rest, hot showers, kitchen-pantry, lockers and laundromat service at reasonable price. Thumbs up for all the staff members, esp Antoine, Ice, Dave and others for their excellent service. They are very friendly, soft-spoken, polite, courteous and most of all, very helpful. The place is also convenient - close to Raohe Night Market and Wu Fen Pu (affordable shopping area). Not forgetting very affordable eateries within walking distance. Lastly, The Meeting Place - very aptly named is where different nationalities, young and old, male and female meet to share different cultures and interests. Will definitely return to The Meeting Place when I visit Taipei again!

Seems to be one of the cheaper hostels in Taipei. Aside from the seemingly perpetual humidity inside and the lack of windows 8n the dorms, its great. They have a lot of basics covered so you dont need to have your own towels, flip flops, or shampoo or body wash. The owner/manager is really nice and the area is very quiet.

Special about this place for me was, that here are many long term guests, staying for several months. It's neither good nor bad, it's just something uncommon, but an excellent way to get good recommendations for traveling Taiwan! The hostel itself is nice, I didn't find much to complain about. Maybe that the restrooms don't have much flair, but well, they're restrooms. Staff was helpful and talkative. For this price (almost half the price of other hostels in Taipei), a really good choice.
