★ ★ ★ ★ ★ One of the beautiful hiking track in Taipei. There are full of fresh air, green plants, wild monkeys, pretty butterflies, clean brook and wonderful path. You can have a nice experience of walking and hiking there. An easy way to get over there via bus. You could plan to visit Tian-mu area when you finish the hike, there are many characteristic stores.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This trail used to be the pipe route supplying Taipei city in 1950s, so along the trail, you could see the old long pipe.
The trail starts with about 1,300 steep stairs, which may consume you lots of energy, but after these, it would be a leisure pathway to bathe in trees, see the whole secenary of Taipei basin, and there is even chance to meet protected animal, Taiwan macaques.
Plus, if u want to see another kind of view, take an adventurous path down to the Cui Feng waterfall. Due to the sulfate from YangMing mt., the color of waterfall is dynamic.
Overall, it's a nice trail in Taipei city!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The stairs are an excellent workout and the wide gravel trail is well shaded by the lush trees and vines.
We are still hoping to see the machaques ... but so far every time we have gone there are groups of children running and shouting or adults with loud individuals who talk constantly - despite the signs asking people to be courteous / keep quiet.
Perhaps an early morning hike will yield better results.
Regardless, the exercise is good, the view in a few spots is pretty and we love getting a treat at the Dream Bakery at the top of the mountain.
Some days depending on the direction of the wind, you can smell the gases from hot springs on the next hill over ... and if you are bothered by such smells take that into consideration.
There are drinking fountains and a few spots for stopping and having a snack along the way, so be sure not to over do it if you aren’t in good physical fitness.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I count 1700 steps but its not too bad, when you reach the top you stay at the same level , I recommend at the second checkpoint at 2,8km to take the little trail who going down after 10min of walk you gonna reach a beautiful waterfall.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Perfect for when you want to work up the cardio in a couple of hours. There are a few scenery spots and monkeys! It takes about an hour going up from the trailhead if you want to go all the way to Wenhua University. I tend to eat something at the inexpensive student eateries before coming back down. Makes a nice break during the day.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Tianmu old trail is a nice hiking place for Taipei people. It is from Tianmu to Chinese Culture University, about 3 km and taking 1.5 hours for the trip.
In the beginning, you need to climb about 1000-ish stairs to accomplish half trail and start to enjoy the flat trail and forest bathing.
Some history big tube builded by Japanese and Taiwan monkey will accompany you in this comfortable journey.
