Wendel's German Bakery & Bistro

There are two attached buildings to Wendel's, one is the restaurant, but I went to the bakery. Nice place to meet someone for for cake and coffee! The breads look really good too... Smoothie wasn't that great though and took some time to make. But overall a nice place to sit and chat.

Good service. I ordered the German sausage and it was a proper one ?. Four stars only because I got the set and the side salad was sweet. I don't think it was the cranberries that were making it sweet, there was something else added. Otherwise its a very nice salad. The bread is good. I'm sure I'll come here to buy bread again.

Not good anymore. I believe this restaurant has absolutely degraded. The main dish (pork) has a strange strong smell unlike what we used to have. The dessert that come with the main is definitely NOT German dessert. It’s a Taiwanese cake?! You use to be able to choose your own desert at the bakery side which makes more senses when the additional up charge is $285 per person. I do not accept the dessert cake that’s served. It taste cheap and just no where close to what this place used to serve.

Everything was great! I would definitely go there again! I recommend the double chocolate cake with this wine.

*Not a comprehensive review as I made a quick curious pit stop and only ordered one thing to-go! As a mixed German, I'd say this is the best shot of getting more authentic German pastries and baked goods, as well as food! Today I only grabbed a strawberry scone ($35) which was perfectly lightly sweet, with a lovely perfectly crumbly soft crumb. The other available flavors were cheese, chocolate, cranberry and raisin! The German cookies make for lovely Holiday gifts, and I'm always happy to see brezel and danishes~ and crunchy rye breads!! The counter staff suggested that (not unsurprisingly) amongst locals, the Red Bean and Peanut pastries are most popular; with foreigners, the apple danish and croissants. And in general, the small breads are all good sellers! The slices of banana cake looked nice and dense and moist, and the chocolate lover cake looked satisfying as well. Will come by again when I'm craving German baked goods~

This place is a authentic German bakery in Taipei. It's welcomed sight when your craving something German or European style. I haven't tried the restaurant but it also looks good. They have German breads, rolls, pretzels, sliced breads, and a variety of other bread items. There are also many sweets/cakes come early for the best selection. I have visited twice so far. I have added pictures below. At certain times the have a deal for buy 3 get one free on cakes. Also buy 10 get one free sometimes. In addition to bakery items they also sell some retail items from Germany including a few wines, jams, cookies, drinks, and Christmas advent calendars for kids. Check it out

What an awesome place!!!!! I'm normally pretty iffy about cooked oysters, but these are so juicy and flavorful it's absolutely unbelievable. We ordered the sharing platter and EVERYTHING was delicious. Special shout out to Vic for being a phenomenal server tonight as well! Keep up the great job and we'll definitely be back soon. Highly recommend!

Sausage platter was wonderful. Very much like what I've had in Germany, so totally authentic. Sea bass was also delicious. Baked goods superb. Simple decor but very nice ambience and fast efficient service. Staff is very pleasant and friendly. Excellent experience, and will definitely go back again. Convenient to MRT.
