The support person was dismissive of the service problem. The representative blamed it on the customer and offered no help. The manager was unable to communicate. It's the worst branch of the world gym.

[Still dirty in SPA] Hi WorldGym 101 Elite, Could you please clean the spa water more often? It smells bad, and the surrounding of spa is dirty (wall, staircase, seat), please help clean it daily. Also please check all lockers, some are broken, you can literary split the upper and lower locker, so when someone is locked on lower locker, upper locker can just open the split between, and things will be exposed. This is important, please check all locker throughly and fix the broken one. Thanks WorldGym!

Pros:Amazing views, prime location, friendly staff, decent equipment, usually not very crowded. Cons: The water situation is annoying. The water machine is out of order half the time and they have no cold water. That isnt very elite. There is a water fountain as well but still no cold water. The urinals don't flush properly and there is usually a puddle of urine in front of each one. I hear the same music just about every time I workout here. And why are multiple depressing Coldplay songs on that playlist? The gym is really small and bathroom is especially small with only one toilet. I wouldn't give such a hard score if this wasn't an "elite" gym and if I wasn't paying a premium. It feels like im getting shortchanged. Please get ice cold water like a lot of the other non-elite gyms have.

Overall, there are not many gym options in Taipei, but try a boutique gym. If you are looking for something super short term, there are many great public gyms in Taipei as well. After Alexander went bankrupt back in the day, World Gym knows they have monopolistic pricing power and take full advantage of members. Here's the detail of my 3-year experience at the gym. Equipment: The gym equipment is good, although I question their choice in numbers and types of machines. Treadmills are not well maintained -- the treads slip making for a dangerous ride. Treadmills often (once per 30 minute run) short circuit while I run on them at ~14km/hr, requiring me to switch treadmills and lose my workout information mid-routine. Price: Very expensive by Taiwanese standards -- at NTD2,288 for an all Taiwan access, it's as expensive as an NYC gym Service: The staff is friendly, however the gym is SUPER STINGY, to the point where it's annoying. For example, there's a rule that one may only use one towel per visit. That's fine, until someone spilled their beverage. I used my towel to wipe up the mess and requested a new one -- the gym staff kindly informed me of their one towel policy and refused to give me a new towel. Ease of registration/admin: Sales people are super aggressive in selling you memberships -- you MUST negotiate (yes, this is like a Chinese night market), and if you are a foreigner, be prepared to get ripped off. The gym makes it very administrative to do things like a) cancel your membership (requires an in-person visit to your original location), b) pause your membership when you go away for a period of time (requires a letter sent via certified mail and all sorts of evidence showing why you paused your membership).

This place is great if you live work nearby and go most days of the week; however, it does get quite busy during lunch and right after work. The prices are negotiable (shouldn't exceed 2000NT/month, I pay a couple hundred less and am able to use all the World Gyms in Taipei aside from other Elite locations) and the monthly fee is cheaper if you sign up for 2-3 years. A good way to figure out if you're getting your money's worth is to figure out how many days a week you require gym facilities and times that by 50NT (price of public, government-run gyms) and compare that to the price you're offered. It has the standard equipment of chain gyms which is well-maintained. Has 2 squat racks, lifting platform, landmine insertion, 2 barbell bench racks, 1 incline and 1 decline bench rack, standard cable and other weight machines, 2 back extension racks, 2 smith machines, and the dumbbells go up to 56kg (~123 lbs). They offer a variety of free classes for members (e.g. spin, yoga, etc.) and have a small functional training area and boxing ring. Changing rooms used to have combination locks built into the lockers which have since been removed (you have to bring your own locks now). They also have a jacuzzi, steam room, and sauna available. All the facilities are kept fairly clean.

Cade at the reception in 101 World gym is friendly, nice and super efficient with processing my membership renewal. Really pleasant to be greeted by a happy face. He and others are always very helpful. Very pleased with the service.

5 stars location, 5 stars monthly fee, but 2 stars maintenance/ equipment. The two ladder machines (only 2) are “under maintenance” for a couple of weeks already still no progress, and the changing is very dusty.

Although it’s quite expensive for a gym membership, it’s so great to exercise here. The equipment is ok and the surrounding is also nice. Recommend for people who work around the place.
