從平溪登山口方向走去!!一路樓梯還蠻累人的!!但還好有樹木遮陽!!又有涼風!!山頂上風景好視野棒!!可看海又看山!!
Go from the direction of the Pingxi Mountain Pass! ! All the way up the stairs is quite tiring! ! But luckily there are trees for shade! ! There is a cool breeze! ! Great view from the top of the mountain! ! You can see the sea and the mountains! !

Steps!! Beware.. it has steps and steep steps are when I wanted to give up. Once the steep ones were done, it was an easy hike.

A really lovely trail, not too difficult and the view at the top is stunning- you can see Keelung and also Taipei- there’s parking spaces near the entrance and also a toilet

It’s the old track of mine tunnel ,now its track becomes a trail for hiking , along the trail you may appreciate the colour changing of the mountains , the view looks like European forests!

We took the reverse way, the easier one from the top down to Shifen at 1.5 hours! Need shuttle at the other end! The views are amazing at the top and the woods at the other half are cool and also abundant with life!

A pretty good hike (3.4 km each way) with beautiful views and serene surroundings though can be tough going up from the coal museum especially from 0.7-1.4 km stretch and 1.7-2.4 km, both of which are simply steps and more steps, which are well paved and safe despite a couple short areas that are rocky. A shrine at 1.4 km serves well as a rest stop and actually provides bottled waters and snack (canned sweet peanut soup) so you can recharge (no other rest areas offer water). Shrine has a makeshift bathroom too which is an unique experience (haha - it seems safe enough when I peed). I didn’t like that the coal museum parking charged NT100 for parking since it felt like nature should be free but it’s supposedly private land. The museum attendant comes out to accept the fee and will give you a receipt. As you go towards trail entrance, turn right BEFORE the overpass highway or else you venture into private property (and a barking dog). There are no signage there. Lots of coverage until you get high up the mountain so protect yourself from the sun. No mosquitoes during the late morning and early afternoon part of the day when I climbed but plenty of wildlife like butterflies, blue tailed lizards, and I even saw a baby deer! Trail ends close to the weather station but note you’d have to walk up the curvy road to reach the gate, which is not open to the public. Still, the five minute walk does offer some more nice views so it was worthwhile to take some closer ups of the two big golf balls :). I took 3 hours going up with plenty of breaks and about 1 hour down. For an easier climb, just be dropped off at top and climb down to be picked up again (no parking at the top entrance). Good clean bathroom at the museum parking lot.
