Banqiao Elementary School in Banqiao District, New Taipei City (Banqiao Elementary School for short), formerly known as Fangqiao Public School and Banqiao National School, was the first new school in Banqiao District during the Japanese Occupation Period. Taiwan’s Governor’s Office promulgated the "Taiwan Public School Rules", "Taiwan Public School Official System" and "Public School Order" on August 16, Meiji 31 ​​(1898), expressly stipulating that the school will be opened with central or local funds. The decree also specifies that the qualifications of public schools are those of Taiwanese children over 8 years old and under 14 years old, and it also specifies the subjects (cultivation, composition, reading, writing, arithmetic, singing, and gymnastics) that should be taught in six-year public schools. ), teachers and holidays, etc. The following year (1899), the "Private Mandarin Education Institute" run by the original Banqiao Lin Benyuan family at the Daguanyi School was restructured into Fangqiao Public School on January 18, and the Wenchang Temple was temporarily used as a classroom. The school opening ceremony was held on March 13, Meiji 32 (1899). There are 2 classes, 2 teachers, and 108 students. On February 3, Meiji 41 (1908), the original Daguanyi School building gradually fell short of use. Lin Erjia, Lin Pengshou, Lin Songshou, Lin Xiongzheng and others from the Lin Benyuan family donated money to fund the school’s construction in the northeast of Fangqiao. Yu (now the current site of Banqiao Elementary School) built a new school building. To commemorate the donation of the Banqiao Lin family to start a school, a monument to build a school was erected. On May 1, Meiji 41 (1908), Fangqiao Public School Fangliao branch school (now Zhonghe Elementary School) was established. On April 1, Meiji 42 (1909), Fangqiao Public School Tucheng Branch (now Tucheng Elementary School) was established. On April 1st in the 8th year of Taisho (1919), Fangqiao Public School Jiangzaicui Branch (now Jiangcui Elementary School) was established. On April 1st in the 9th year of Taisho (1920), Fangqiao Public School Shalun Branch (now Shalun Elementary School) was established. On April 1st in the 10th year of the Taisho era (1921), Fangqiao was renamed Banqiao after the restructuring of Taiwan’s administrative region, and the school was renamed Banqiao Public School in cooperation with it. On April 1st of Showa 16 (1941), Taiwan’s Education Order was amended again, changing all elementary schools, Fanren public schools, and public schools to national schools. Banqiao Public School was renamed Banqiao National School. On September 1st in the 45th year of the Republic of China (1956), the Puqi branch school (now Puqi Elementary School) was established. On September 1st in 1949 (1958), the Houpu branch school (now Houpu Elementary School) was established. On August 1, 1968, a nine-year compulsory national education was implemented and the name was changed to "Banqiao Elementary School, Banqiao Town, Taipei County." On September 1st in 1973, Xinpu Elementary School was established with 24 teachers and more than 1,700 students. On August 25, 1978, Guoguang Elementary School was established, with 26 teachers and more than 2,200 students.
