★ ★ ★ ★ ★ At the top of the hill (with 3 parking areas) you can see the famous reflecting pool next to the visitor center! Just walk a little bit up the steps next to the center. Also don't forget to buy their 招牌冰淇淋; the tea flavor is great! And can get your caffeine refill here and other goodies to recharge, too. Driving up is a pain, with a lot of waiting to let others through, but worth it??

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ With a first class reputation, Xueshan trail or Snow Mountain is a beautiful trail to experience. Because of the high altitude and drastic drop in temperatures, make sure you are well prepared. Taking a headache tablet worked for me with high altitude headaches. You will need a good thick sleeping bag and foam mat for a comfortable sleep in the cabins, ear plugs will help immensely as you'll be sharing the dorm which have bunks, with a variety of hikers who can exit as early as 2am. Sleeping bags and prepared food are available but you need to book this in advance. We went the 2nd week of April and found that there's still some snow on the peak, so bring crampons if you're are planning to go to the peak. Finally, book at least 2 months in advance to avoid disappointment with cabins being full.
