Ya Yuen Restaurant

This is the best dim sum restaurant I partaked in Taipei so far. Why did it still only get three stars in my rating? It is because I had much better dim sum in other metropolis such as Hong Kong, Los Angeles, Toronto, or Vancouver. As it is, none of the better places I had been to received five stars in my book so three stars means it is quite acceptable. Our party of four arrived around four in the afternoon and the place was empty. When we left around six, there were diners at one other table. The fried shrimp wrap was the best of the dim sums our party ordered that day. The flat noodle with shrimp was also fairly tasty. All the other dim sums were better than the ones served in other dim sum restaurants that I visited in Taipei although that is likely a faint praise considering my earlier statement. The one dish our party ordered, steamed chicken in lotus leaves, was subpar. The chicken was overcooked yet the flavor was so mild it bordered on flavorless. In summary, it is a decent choice for dim sum but not dishes.

Fantastic yum cha, especially the dim sim in there are all good. It’s a great place to be with friend or family.

Nice location and delicacies

Our favourite dimsum in Taipei. The siumai and shrimp dumpling taste fresh and light, not greasy. Chicken feet are better than other place we have tried. The beancurd rolls are really good too. The finally dessert is not too sweet.

Delicious dim sum dishes for very decent prices in Taipei. Very traditional Cantonese style preparation. This restaurant opens at 11 a.m. So if you are used to earlier dim sum meals, plan to come a little later for this place. Note that most of the tables are already reserved for weekend mornings. So plan to make a reservation or wait a bit for a free table. They may have some small tables available for smaller groups who come in without the reservation.

Dimsum specialty restaurant. Staffs are nice and amicable. Respond to your requests fast enough. Decoration looks a bit outdated but fits the restaurant. They serve different types of teas at choice. Staff will explain each tea if you have a hard time to figure out. Expect to pay around NT$500 or more per person. Food is definitely delicious. Some dishes are a bit bland because you can add soy sauce at your taste. Overall worth spending afternoon enjoying a meal and chat with friends or family. Definitely recommend visiting.
