The Yilan County Cultural Center Performing Arts Hall is the first three-sided theater in the country. With Yilan's characteristic architectural design and open stage form, it is unique in Taiwan's theater industry. Planning, design, and construction started in 1990 and completed in 1998, which lasted eight years and officially opened for performances in April 1998. The overall building is mainly composed of red bricks, wood, and washed stones familiar to the residents, highlighting the spatial characteristics of the local environmental background of Yilan. The overall appearance uses green steel as the roof, southern Fujian red bricks and gray-purple wash Yilan stone, looking down from the sky, it looks like another peaceful Guishan Island; the lively semi-outdoor space layout, nestled in the main building of restrained; open; The performance hall continues the interaction between inside and outside space; the surrounding double-layer cloister reflects the special rainy climate of Yilan; nearly a hundred hand-painted pottery plates are inlaid on the columns of the corridor, and the plain texture shows the rich colors of local opera in Yilan.
