Zhushan Sunrise Observation Deck

The sunrise is just ok( not something you will “wa!” for), and you need to be very lucky to see sea of clouds here. There are 2 unofficial narrators here telling “stories” and giving misleading information, and then turning into sellers asking visitors to buy things from the shops. The public toilet is Graphic and there is no water supply. If this is a world-class scenic attraction, then the government is not doing the right things.

Very good place to relax but not in the morning cause will packed with people's jostling for front spot for sunrise and sea cloud. Come after 8am if no intention for catching the sunrise as the area will be really empty with few peoples only

Great place to view Sunrise. Prepare to wake up early in the morning and take the train to go up to the observation platform. Tip: Buy the train ticket 1 day before is recommended!

A good viewpoint. I didn't go for sunset.but went up at 9am. No one there. Peaceful. Calming. Fantastic. Watched the clouds slowly separate to reveal the view. Then the loud tourists photographers arrived. But otherwise good!

Awesome viewpoint for Sunrise at Alishan in fact the most well known one. You have to be here before 6.00AM to witness the sunrise. Usually people take the earliest train from Alishan station around 4.30AM & reach to Zhushan station in about 30 minutes. There are many people here so make sure you got a good spot to snap the photo or video. And be sure to wear sunglasses as the sun light is incredibly bright just after it rises from Yushan mountain.

This is THE spot to see the famous sunrise in Alisan. It was cold for the end of December, about 4 degrees C but well worth it. I can finally check that off my bucket list. Make sure to purchase the train ticket the day before staring around 2pm. The precise sunrise time will announce around 430pm and the time of the first train, at the station or the hotels you're staying at. The train ride will take about 30 minutes. It will be packed even for a Tuesday. So check the first train time and be there an hour before for the first departure. Our sunrise was off by 5 minutes later but still we got to see it with our own eyes. Pictures don't do justice, we never seen the sun that clear, bright, and vibrant, full of golden rays. Everyone was in awe. If you have purchase the return ticket, then the train will take you back to the Alisan station, or you can slowly trek back, about an hour. There is another observation deck not far from this one so you have to choose which one you prefer to see. This is the most popular spot, right off the Zhusan station. The station also has some vendors selling hot drinks and snacks for you while waiting for the sun to come up. Overall it was awesome, a must see, and nothing else matters.

The whole reason that you came to Alishan was to see the sunrise, right? Well that was why we did anyway. Stayiing at Alishan House made it less painful than some options.. Wake up call at 4am, but to railway station at 4:30am.. Got on the first (crowded) train about 4:50. Arrive at the observation area about 6:20, then stand in the cold for about an hour wondering why you are doing this. If you speak Mandarin, you can be entertained by the guy giving color commentary, evidently about history, mountains, trees. Once the sun comes up, hope for good conditions with a sea of clouds. Take your photos, then rush to the train and if you are very lucky get a seat. The breakfast (and dinner for that matter) at Alishan House are excellent.

Twenty years ago, my first visit at Ali mountain did not have any luck to watch the sunrise. Last year, went with my schoolmates to revisit again. This time fully enjoyed the awesome time of amazing, magnificent Ali Mountain sunrise. It’s one of must do activities in our life time.
