there is an abandoned coal mind pit here in taipei hsin i district
went to have a look today
due to the the Ksitigarbha Temple nearby
It feels solemn and scary
so I didn't go in
just wandering around outside

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We go over this coal mining old tunnels on our way up to Elephant Mountain trails. Whole that area is so special, Taoism, Buddhist, Taiwanese Folklore all centered there with free access to any of temples or shrine.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Not easy to go their after 1h hiking with the warm weather and humidity but beautiful temple. Do not expect to have something traditional for that you should go in town for those temple. Late 80s style, but really welcoming people at the temple offering water if you look pretty exhausted after the hike too.
Really nice place where generosity still exists
