Highly recommended. Doctors are very patient and explain all procedures thoroughly. Environment is clean and pricing is very reasonable compared to other vets we've been to in the area. Wish I had known about this place sooner!

Excellent, professional and caring staff. I had three dogs one who unfortunately they had to euthanize. He was 17 yrs old and they did it compassionately and humanely. My other two dogs have been regular visitors there and I have no complaints and only praise for their treatment.

We're an animal rescue with 20 years experience with over 2,000 animals needing emergency veterinary treatment, and we have used many different vets all over Taipei and New Taipei City. No vet is perfect, but our experience at Nicola was the worst we have ever had. It nearly cost the life of our cat, Afu, and she was only saved because we did a quick google search after taking her home to die after Nicola did surgery to remove part of her intestine. They said she was dying from an infection, but she was clearly suffering from neurological breakdown. We took her home to die with us, did a quick google of her symptoms, and realised that she was suffering from hyponatremia, or water poisoning, caused when fluids are administered too quickly or in too great a volume. We had to call Nicola and tell them how to reverse her condition with slow administration of sodium solution, which they already knew but we wanted to make sure, and rushed her back. Two days later she was back to normal, alive, happy, able to not only stand but run and play again, just like she was before her experience at Nicola. We told Nicola that we weren't angry or going to sue, but that they should have been a lot more careful and tested her hydration levels before administering more fluids, which can kill an animal if too much. They denied it was their fault and cited infection again. When I asked why they administered sodium solution to reverse her condition if it was caused by infection, they went silent. We had had a meeting with them when Afu first arrived at the vet to explain her history (previously paralyzed) and diet (raw, not pellets, which dehydrate cats and cause many other ailments). So we don't understand why they would give fluids in what could have been fatal volumes to a cat who was not dehydrated. Incredibly, Nicola gave us a huge vet bill for not only for treating the issue she went in with (which hasn't improved) but also for the several days of treatment to reverse the damage caused by giving her dangerous levels of fluids! They shouted at us on the phone when we tried to get them to understand the importance of learning from this mistake. And we finally had to stop using them when they kept trying to convince our staff that their directors don't know what they're doing and that processed pellets are better than fresh food for cats and dogs. We are now paying off Afu's vet bill monthly along with other vet bills of other rescues that seem expensive compared to other vets. We advised them to let clients know in future how much their vet bills are so that they are not shocked with a huge demand for payment all of a sudden. We feel we should not be paying for Nicola to save the life of a cat they almost killed with an overdose of fluids. Accidents and mistakes can happen at any vet—none of us is perfect and we can all learn from mistakes—but Nicola seem unwilling to accept that, even though we made it clear we have no intention of ruining their name or suing them. And they have been nasty since, even messaging my wife in the middle of the night to demand full payment even though we had made it clear we will pay monthly and not legally contest the charge for saving Afu. We realise now we should have just looked into suing them for malpractice, but we feel it best to let others know of our experience there.
