A	AlberTy Tr. on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 日據時期，深坑曾為整個文山區的行政中心，老街原為一條周邊皆為草房的泥巴路，因為一次廟會活動導致火災，整條街付之一炬，因此日本人實施街道改正計劃，開始拓寬街道，土角厝也改建為有亭仔腳的立面街屋，成為今日深坑老街的面貌。也因為深坑曾為整個文山區的行中心，老街的規模是文山區最大、最長的，相較於石碇、菁桐、平溪、十分老街，深坑老街有更多的店家以及更精緻的樓房街道。比如裝飾著精緻的磨石花磚的亭仔腳，建材及雕刻十分講究的巴洛克雕花立面騎樓，都可以作為深坑老街以往繁華的證明。除了建築以外，老街前還有一棵百年老樹。早期大樹下周為商家林立，因此「大樹下」也成為深坑老街的一個重要地標。 During the Japanese occupation period, Shenkeng used to be the administrative center of the entire Wenshan District. E	Eric Wang on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I am giving this place four stars not because of any historical significance of the buildings or the street. Rather, this place earned the high rating because of the plethora of shops encompassing restaurants, street food, teas, delicacies, clothing, footwear, as well as all manners of trinkets within a street barely a quarter mile long. I had been to this place four times. Twice in January 2020, once in January 2021, and the most recent time was in April 2022. Knowing that this place is supposed to be popular, I chose to visit on weekdays. The street was not busy during my visits which is part of the reasons I rated it four stars. I surmise my experience, thus my rating, would be impacted negatively had I been surrounded by hordes of tourists during my visits. If you are not into shopping, or even browsing, this street would probably not be fun for you. On the other hand, the stinky tofu and organic chicken could make your trip worthwhile provided that you choose the purveyors wisely. If you are not certain whether or not this place is worth your while, I'd suggest that you puruse the Google Maps photos which should give you a rough idea on what to expect. By the way, the underground parking beneath the children's playground is inexpensive, has plenty of space, and is really close to the street. The parking entrance is on PingPu street across from PXmart. There are also parking lots that charge per entrance located just across the bridge near the big banyan tree.
