以舊為八張地區得名。八張一名源自於開墾之始，有犁牛八張【閩南語一支犁算一張，即一張五甲，一支牛犁所分配之土地】，故名。相傳嘉慶初年陳金聲開墾此地時，分配佃戶八張耕犁而得名。
Eight Zhangli:
Named after the old Hachijo area. One of the eight is derived from the beginning of reclamation. There are eight plows [a piece of plow in the Minnan language, that is, a piece of Wujia, a land allocated by a plow], hence the name. According to legend, when Jia Jinsheng reclaimed the land in the early years of Jiaqing, he assigned eight household ploughs to his name.
