大坑里是靠海的地區，因此整個社區在過去時代幾乎都是漁民，也就是說大坑社區是個漁村聚落。當然，現在不同以往了，大坑社區這附近的觀光業，也已經發展多年了，因為得天獨厚，有天然的海景，吸引許多愛海的遊客，到此渡假，他們可以垂釣或是只是放鬆身心，悠閒的看海。
魚，是這邊的象徵性動物，因為有海有魚，而且魚曾是這邊居民賴以維生的；據此，大坑社區的這個地標，便相當寫實！
