There is a free parking lot. It looks good from the outside and walks in, only to realize that there are many small rooms that are quite large.

The Fan Jiang brothers started to build their new house in about the 4th year of Xianfeng (1854). It was originally a three-sided courtyard-style multi-hulong building and was later used as an ancestral hall. The existing Fan Jiang ancient house, called "Fan Jiang Zu Tang", has five ancestral halls around it. There are only four ancient houses of the Fan Jiang family and other buildings. The single building preserves the simple and simple complete form of Hakka architecture and its use of space. In terms of architectural expression, it is much different from the Han people's main house. The difference can be seen in the structure built by adobe and tile, the way and method of upturning the roof, and the way of conveying the mountain rest, etc., which convey the formal value of Hakka architecture. The ceremonies and group layouts reveal the ritual and social relations of families with the same surname. In terms of the location and spatial form of the ancestral hall, since it is located at the core of the overall group formed by the family residence, it is not difficult to see the activities it has. The symbolic meaning of the center of the ceremony has the function of maintaining family emotions. Fan Jiang is a unique family of double surnames among all surnames in Taiwan. Those who only have the surname of Fan Jiang at home and abroad are all from the Fan Jiang family in Xinwu. The surname Fan Jiang originated from a "Fan Jiang family. The story of "Drinking water, thinking of the source, and repaying kindness", at the end of Kangxi's reign, Fan Jijing, Baiyun Village, Lufeng County, Guangdong, married his wife Lei's. After giving birth to two sons, Jijinggong gave up due to illness and his family was poor. In order to appreciate the kindness of the stepfather's upbringing, the couple agreed to put "Jiang" under the surname Fan and became "Fan Jiang" to commemorate the legend that the future generations will never be ungrateful. In the first year of Qianlong’s reign, Duke Diangao, who was ranked second, went to Taiwan alone to search for land and found that the new house area could be used by Kentuo to return to his former residence in the following year. Jue arrived in Taiwan and the five brothers joined forces to develop more than 3,950 hectares of fertile land, which is roughly equal to the size of 158 Daan Forest Parks (the Daan Forest Park in Taipei is only 25 hectares). Since many new houses were built, it is the origin of the place name "New House"! Fan Jiang Ancestral Hall was built in 1854 (Xianfeng 5), and it is the center of the Fan Jiang family's worship and beliefs and condensed the feelings of the tribe. In addition to the New Year's festival, the Spring and Autumn Festival is an important event to cherish the memory of ancestors every year. The buildings of Fan Jiang's old houses Retention has the inner meaning of "uniting the family, promoting ethics, and attaching importance to family affection". The decoration and space planning are of special significance. In addition to the instructions of "loyalty and filial piety" and "honesty" on the wall of the front hall, the plaque on the door has the words "Tao Wei Liufang or Tao Wei Chuanfang" inscribed in the main hall with the words "Tao Diaojiasheng". "Tao" refers to the Yue Kingdom Taoist Zhugong Fan Li. "Wei" refers to Jiang Taigong who fished in the Wei River in the early Zhou Dynasty. ??️?

Good parking for about 30 minutes. Good to go. Also suitable for elders nostalgic.
Opposite the old house is the parking lot provided by the descendants of Fan Jiang. Twice a year, the descendants and grandchildren worship their ancestors. I don’t know if they will be enclosed, but they are currently open.
Like a labyrinth, there are many spaces, and it is very worthwhile to feel the efforts made by predecessors for a better life and for future generations. Amazing!

Along the entire Zhongzheng Road Lane 110, you can see four ancient houses
pretty well preserved
Except for the ancestral temple, it is not open to visit
In fact, there is not much content. Most of the objects preserved in the buildings do not have many cultural relics.
The overall is quite relaxed. It is not open on Mondays and there is no guided tour.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Better than it looks. At first glance. You need to go inside and explore much larger than it looks. There is a library and a coffee shop connected.
