A good place to learn carpentry, starting from the basics, selecting materials to making a one-stop method

老師授課的用心看得見,讓我忘掉了先前交流沒有很周到這一點。 到現在還是覺得我想製作洞爺湖這個點子直接被打槍這點很讓人難過。人家是真的很認真想做洞爺湖啊!!!!!
The teacher's attention to the teaching is visible, which makes me forget that the previous communication was not very thoughtful. Until now, I still feel that I want to make the idea of Lake Toya and be shot directly. I really want to be Lake Toya very seriously! ! ! ! !

Let me preface my criticism by saying that the teacher is very serious about carpentry and is obviously very good at it. That much is clear. I have lots of respect for the teacher as an artist, and that fact by itself means giving him 1 star is unfair. His abilities as a teacher, however, leave much to be desired. The teacher is inflexible to the point of being Procrustean. I spent literally 5 weeks doing nothing but sharpening chisels and was given almost no instruction other than to "try harder." Weeks later, it turned out that the sharpening stone that I was using was too old and that using a brand new one solved 90% of my problems, and so I could have accomplished a month's worth of work in literally a day. The teacher found out about this after more than a month of my fruitless labor--more than 3 hours per day at home, sharpening chisels, a total of more than 150 hours. Throughout the entire time, I repeatedly asked him for help, but he would usually spend no more than a few seconds to talk to me before very quickly walking off to do presumably more important things. Due to my dull chisels, the only other thing I was allowed to do was to make a dovetail. I intended to prove to the teacher that I am not stupid and that I'm simply bad at sharpening chisels, so I tried my very best and showed him my work--which turned out to be better than that of many of my peers. The response was a backhanded compliment: "This is very good. You surprised me." The teacher made other condescending statements, for example, by pointing out to the rest of the class that a tool I bought is bad. His words were something along the lines of "Don't just be like him and buy a chisel like this simply because it's got some Japanese characters on it that makes it look fancy." The truth is that I never bought it because it had Japanese and looked fancy. I bought it because I respected the teacher and would rather be over-prepared, and because that was the only chisel of the kind he wanted that I could find. Moreover, the teacher is unfair. At least one other student before me has progressed far beyond chisel sharpening and made a number of pretty neat things. She said she had immediately given up on sharpening chisels and never learned how, having asked others to do it for her from the outset. Her lack of competence in this area showed and a blind eye was turned. I stopped going to classes and managed to get a partial refund (as is my legal right), but not without putting up a fight and telling him that my hand was injured. I also had to hear plenty of other statements directed at my character to explain away his own faults. It is regrettable that I have to write all of this. When I first saw the teacher's work, I was completely enthralled. In fact, I still have the utmost respect for the craftsmanship and detail that he puts in everything he makes. But being artistically gifted and self-disciplined is one thing, and questioning a student's dedication for no good reason other than to cover one's own behind is another. I sincerely hope the teacher would improve as a teacher, because, with the other skills and knowledge he already possesses, his classes could have been phenomenal.
