Fangyuan Putian Temple is the largest room in Taiwan, and the second largest Mazu Temple is built. The temple is 35 meters high, and the tall and majestic temple can be found from a distance. Legend has it that during the Qing Dynasty, the sand dunes behind the Putian Temple were once haunted by white horses, which are the auspicious points of "White Horse Peak" in Feng Shui. The temple has a history of more than 300 years. 【The History of Putiangong】 It is said that Chen Chenggong, General Manager of the Right Sentinel of Taiwan Defence Force of Fujian Water Flood, led the army to the stage twice, but they were unable to land and turn back due to the strong wind and waves, so they respectfully invited Mazu from Meizhou to board the ship and escort them to Taiwan, so that they could successfully land at Fanzaiwa (Fang Yuan). old place name). In the 36th year of Emperor Kangxi (1697), Chen Chenggong was grateful for the blessing of Mazu to build a temple by the sea. In the 9th year of Xianfeng (1859), the temple was destroyed by the rising tide, leaving only the golden body of the Virgin Mary and a wooden plaque. The temple was moved to Fangyuan Street. With the passage of time, Putian Temple has been rebuilt many times, and it was relocated to the current site for reconstruction in 1980. 【Floating Wall Guanyin】 In the 90th year of the Republic of China, when Yuanlin Yuzhi Gaoyang Hall received the incense from the sky in the Putian Palace, the miracle of the Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva statue appeared on the cement wall of the west side of the temple, and it has not faded to this day, which amazed the believers at the time. In 109 of the Republic of China, Putian Palace held the ceremony of setting the Lingxiao Palace on fire. The statue was made of pure copper and gilt. It took 3 years to complete. Near Fangyuan Putian Temple, there is also the newly completed "Sea and Sky Trail" and the unique culture of manatee and oyster picking.
