★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 杉林溪森林渡假園區對外的交通，主要是靠杉林溪公路來聯絡。杉林溪公路全長十七公里，共有十八處路段，從海拔約一千一百公尺溪頭孟宗山莊旁的入口，沿著蜿蜒的山坡，一直爬升到海拔一千六百公尺。途中的「生肖彎」，為每繞一百八十度的彎道，即分別以鼠、牛、虎、兔、龍、蛇、馬、羊、猴、雞、狗、豬等十二生肖來命名，每轉一個彎，就延伸視野，讓人有步步高升的感受，也形成此段公路的一大特色。
行車上須小心，因為有多個彎處，。
