其形式採華倫式桁架橋形式
現存橋梁為該橋第4代橋
完工於民國97年(2008)

該橋因其位置為全線的平地、登山路線交界
上山列車過橋後即以坡度45‰上升邁向山區
故有登山玄關之別稱

日治時期完成的第一代牛稠溪橋
為一般木構橋梁
通車後數次毀壞再建
之後第二代橋以阿里山自產紅檜
將牛稠溪橋改建為類似西螺大橋、大甲溪鐵橋的桁架橋
橋墩改為磚石造橋墩
是現今第四代橋的參照樣貌
使用至民國50年左右仍存

民國53年(1964)改建為混凝土橋
不過跨越牛稠溪主河道的路段為鋼橋
第三代橋使用達44年
是目前共四代牛稠溪橋中
使用時間僅次於第二代橋者
民國97年(2008)隨著第四代橋落成
第三代橋隨即被完全拆除

The existing bridge is the fourth generation bridge of the bridge

Because of its location, the bridge is the junction of the whole line of flat land and mountaineering routes.
After the uphill train crosses the bridge, it ascends with a gradient of 45‰ towards the mountainous area

for general wooden bridges
