Qingcheng Palace, formerly known as Mazu Palace, was built during the Jiaqing period of the Qing Dynasty and has a history of two to three hundred years. According to legend, when Emperor Jiaqing traveled to Taiwan, he arrived at Minxiong, who was called the "cat-catcher" in ancient times. He was grateful for the blessing of the "Mother of Heaven" and bestowed materials for temple construction and sent a famous Chinese temple builder to Taiwan to build it. Therefore, it is also the only Mazu temple in Taiwan that was entrusted by Emperor Jiaqing of the Qing Dynasty. She worships the "aunt" and has a high deity status. It is not only the center of faith in the Minxiong area, but also a holy temple for the followers of Mazu in the three counties of Yun and Jia. On March 17 of the 39th year of the Meiji era (1906), the Qingcheng Palace was destroyed by a major earthquake. The temple site was forcibly used as road land by the Japanese government. Mazu had to temporarily worship the apse of the Dashiye Temple in Minxiong Township. Mazu does not have his own palace to sit in, which has always made believers feel helpless. Every year when Mazu’s birthday is around, when the mikoshi arrives at the old temple, she wanders around and reluctant to leave; Mazu has also repeatedly used her to give decree or surrender in a sedan chair. Poetry conveys the hope that it can be rebuilt within a hundred years. In 1988 (1999), believers organized a reconstruction committee to actively raise funds for the temple. It lasted 5 years and was finally completed.

It has a long history to worship Mazu. There are algae wells in all temples. You can watch them carefully and burn incense to pray.

Follow the Mazu passport again to the Qingcheng Palace in Minxiong Town. Although the statues of Mazu enshrined in each temple are very different, the same is the compassion of Mazu who loves the people. The temple also sincerely pays a visit! …

It is registered as a Taoist Temple, but it worships Ma-tzu or Heavenly Goddess, which was credited and worshipped for her ability and reputation to protect seamen or sailors, a traditional Taiwanese and Chinese female folklore deity, as the main deity. However, it is an interesting phenomena for the visitors to see that worshippers seem to worship God the Great Earth or Land God more than to worship Ma-tzu because the Land God statue was NOT damaged in horrified Min-Xiong 1906 Earthquake., Based on the Temple clerk, it was built in 1809, but it was almost completely damaged in 1906 Chiayi Min-Xiong Earthquake, except Land God or God of Great Earth. Until 1995, the Temple was finally rebuilt after it received support from local Farmer Association for rebuilding land contribution. Between 1906 and 1995, the Statue of Ma-tzu was "temporarily" placed and worshipped in the neighboring Ta-shih-Ye Temple The Temple does not charge fee for entrance or using bathroom for the worshippers or the public.
