★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I have tried Tainan City 碗糕 and this rates TOP on my list. Price at TWD30, the amount of ingredients are plentiful with a large slice of egg, pork, small shrimp and a big piece of mushroom. The sauce is not too sweet and balanced well with the chili.
On arrival, follows the queue. There is another shorter queue for take-away which is in the inner lane closer to the store front. This is a MacDonald concept. Pay and carry and find your own seats.
For the takeaway, this is very convenient. Just take whichever number you wanted and pay.
For dine in, there is a self served garlic section.
We ordered:
1. toufu + century egg: 4/5
2. 魚羹: 4/5
3. 魚丸湯：4/5
4. 泡菜：5/5
5. 碗糕：5/5
For takeaway: 5/5. 碗糕 will become very “Q”.
