蔡廷蘭是澎湖本地第一位，也是唯一一位進士，因此有「開澎進士」的稱號。他在1844年（道光二十四年）高中進士，1846年回鄉祭祖時，在舊宅旁建進士第，這宅第因年代久遠，故於2012年進行修復，目前已被指定為縣定古蹟，並開放民眾免費參觀。在進士第旁有蔡氏祖廟濟陽堂、懋靈殿和一座小公園名為進士第公園，可一併參觀，而地圖上的這個位置就是進士第公園，裡面有廁所。

Cai Tinglan is the first and only Jinshi in Penghu, so he has the title of "Kai Peng Jinshi." In 1844 (the twenty-fourth year of Daoguang), he was a senior high school scholar. When he returned to his hometown to worship his ancestors in 1846, he built a Jinshi Mansion next to the old house. Because of its age, the mansion was restored in 2012 and has been designated as a county. Set historical sites and open them to free public viewing. Next to Jinshidi, there are Cai's ancestral temple Jiyangtang, Maoling Hall and a small park called Jinshidi Park, which can be visited together.
