Helpful! He seemed a bit grumpy on the day I visited. But maybe that's just his personality - he definitely did help and knew what he was doing. The price was fair, too. I might just go there again, if I ever need to. Maybe then I'll find out, if he just had a bad day, or if he's just the silent type.

I have nothing but praise for this business. They were massively helpful on two occasions, taking time to answer my silly questions in depth, even though I needed to purchase very little. My nonexistent Chinese was not a problem, as they speak beautiful English, for which I am very thankful. Whatever bike related need you have, and whatever language you speak, I am confident Alan's Bike Shop is for you. Check it out.

The service is just wonderful. They provide several training tutorials if you buy bikes here, not to mention the further tune-up and fix. The owner is an experienced biker, you can ask him almost everything about biking and he won't disappoint you.

I rode with Alan in January 2018. His wife Yen (the better English speaker) and he combined for a great experience. Alan can speak English well enough to lead a ride. I rented a nice Giant full suspension, and they supplied both riding gloves and a helmet. Alan led me on a solo ride - I'm an intermediate level rider - Alan is much better - but he rode to my level and made sure I had a good time. He also took some pictures. Yen gave me some good tips about the town when back at the shop. If you enjoy the sport of Mountain Biking, this shop is a great choice to rent a bike and ride while in Taipei! Great folks, great ride!

Very satisfied with this bike shop. Alan was very patient with the fact that I didn't know exactly what I wanted. He listened to my needs and didn't pressure me into buying a bike that was too expensive and even explained that for my purposes, I didn't need anything overly expensive (I've been to bike shops where the owner tried to convince me to buy the most expensive bike he could order). He talked me out of features I thought I needed and talked me into other features he thought suited me better... and I ended up with the best bike I've ever opened. When I went in to pick it up, he watched the way I mounted the bike and ended up giving me a free hour lesson on how to improve my technique while riding.

I've been staying in Taiwan for a few months and had the itch to go mountain biking again. I decided to go with Alan because he offers high quality rental bikes and safety equipment. He was very thorough in helping me set up my bike properly by asking me about my height, helmet size, and even my brake lever preference. When I got to the shop at the arranged time, he had already finished setting up my bike. He then drove me all the way out to Taoyuan where he thought the trail would best suit my trail preference. He shared lots of tips and riding knowledge with me while out on the trail. Alan was also super patient with me, especially since I'm out of shape and couldn't keep up lol. Overall a great first experience riding in Taiwan. He even dropped me off at home which was super nice of him. If I have a chance, I will definitely come back for another ride! Thank you Alan!

Extremely nice and talented mountain biker. I’ve taken several lesson with Alan starting from no mountain biking experience. He’s a great coach and a pleasure to ride with. Also very knowledgeable about road bikes. Highly recommend.

I am writing my experience at Alan's shop back in April 2014. I corresponded with Yen over email. She was very responsive and I felt very comfortable knowing that the shop will be preparing a touring bike for me upon my arrival. Even before going to Taipei, I already felt my plan to carry out a solo unsupported bicycle tour round Taiwan started out very well. I greeted Yen for the first time and she made me feel at home. Alan introduced me to Junhao who was already finishing up with the Surly LHT trucker. I sat in the shop and felt comfortable with what I am seeing and what I was about to ride on. I was provided a toolkit to complete the setup so that I can get some simple stuff done. It was a good start, very good start. In fact, looking back I must say it was indeed a very, very good experience I had with Alan's shop. Their preparation of the Surly LHT was very good and it certainly climbed like a goat and never once did I had any difficulties with it from Taipei to Shabaling, Nanshan, Hehuanshan (Wuling), Sun Moon Lake and Taichung.
