★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It was a very special experience to be surrounded by thousands year old trees. They named each tree after Chinese historical figures (for example they named the oldest one Confucius), which makes the trip much more interesting.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A beautiful place ruined by the guides constantly yelling in their megaphones. Insist on taking the longer route! Our guides were trying to dissuade us by saying how difficult it is, they were just lazy I guess. The longer route had much more to offer and easy to cope with normal fitness level, the people who got fooled really missed out on something.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The Cilan Divine Tree Garden is the largest cypress garden in Asia. Nearly 100 red cypress and Taiwan cypress trees over 1,000 years old stand in the garden, and a walk through the forest, surrounded by clouds and mist, is amazing. The trees in the garden are named after ancient saints and sages, aligning the age of the trees with the dynasties of historical figures, which is very interesting.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ You need to join the tour to come here. It’s $540NT per person. Leave from the 2 hotels nearby. The ride is about 1 hour on a winding narrow mountain road with little place to pass another car.
Our guided tour is well of knowledge. He really did the excellent jobs of explaining all the giant cypress here. I finally understand what’s difference between red cypress and cypress. There are 62 giant tress here made it most dense large trees preservation area. The walk is between 2 -2.5 hrs. Started with descending stairs, few ups but mostly easy. Truly phenomenal natures. It beats Alishan and shimagus giant trees park. Also a lot less crowd.
