Guandu Nature Park

Stellar example of a wetland learning center. The place has facilities for training, meetings, conference. The learning facilities include indoor and outdoor spaces. The facility is person-with-disability friendly. The staff are efficient and corteous. Our volunteer guide Renney Chan was professional and had deep knowledge of the site - it made the whole experience more personal and enjoyable with his story telling. The number of people roaming the park is well managed and you don't feel like you're in a tourist trap. The souvenir shop is top rate for souvenir shops in Taipei of similar nature - varied (suitable for babies to kids, teenagers to your boss), affordable (NTD20 and up for useful and substantial gifts), and interesting souvenirs (local handicrafts etc) make sure you will go away with gifts for friends and families.

A wonderful place to take a half-day with your family or friends to experience the wetland nature and here the sounds from the nature instead of the motors. Guandu Nature Park is one of the IBA (Important Bird Area) spot in the world to provide and protect wetland for thousands of creatures including the key indicator, birds. Almost around 250 species of birds have been recorded here. It's also a place for education of environmental protection and biodiversity as well as a place for recreational purpose for public. The area has been reserved as a nature park instead of a industrial park since 1980s which is a long-term victory for the environmental protection program and provide the citizens more fresh air, clean water and a place to connect with the precious nature. Hope you have time to stay here to experience the green wetland, the birds flying over you and sounds of nature instead of machines, or go into the main building to watch a video or posters introducing Guandu or the park's history or the various kinds of creatures. There's also telescopes serviced in the second floor to have a close look of the wetland.

Good place for walking and relaxing. Birds are not many kinds. And far away to take a good pictures.

Such good place/environment to walk the park in Taipei City. Great conservation for wetland and good habitat for migration birds! Can get Bird watching over here and also get close to Nature with Art!

Excellent wetlands park with very friendly staff. You can cycle here along the city’s cycling path to avoid traffic, or you can take the red line and get off at 關渡 Guandu station. The entrance tickets are inexpensive at 30 NT but totally worth it. With over 229 species of birds being recorded here, in addition to many plants, amphibians and other lovely creatures, Guandu is a wonderful place to learn about how Taipei is dealing with the delicate balance between Mother Nature and urban development. There is a cafe on the 2nd floor where you can have drinks or even lunch while listening to chirping birds. The volunteers are knowledgeable and will use the binoculars on the second floor of the center to point and direct you towards the seasonal birds. On the first floor there’s an auditorium where they show short, informative videos related to the park. Managed by the Wild Bird Society of Taipei, Guandu shows how comprehensive management by a responsible NGO helps make the environment a better place.

Nice wetland to look for birds, we saw 20 kinds of bird in an hour.

Came at noon, not many birds spotted but the whole park is superb, stunning views from the visitor center!
