HawkerChan油雞飯 - Taipei City

As you may see from other reviews here, the food is decent but it’s extremely pricey due to the original shop getting a Michelin star. Ordered the Char Siu and Soy Sauce Chicken entree with rice ($170 NT). The amount of food you get for the price is pretty disappointing. Probably wouldn’t get this again since there’s Pepper Lunch just around the corner.

I thought it was not too bad despite all the bad reviews. I also spent some time in Japan and US so didn't think it was too pricey, but it was definitely pricier than most places in the same food court. chicken was a little dry. Wait wasn't too long. Recommend grabbing a bite of you're waiting to get to the observatory or something.

Always pass by this booth in the taipei 101 shopping Center food court and saw a long line of people. So it made me curious to try it out this evening. I must say the food here is awful for being so pricy in taiwan. The food looks good but taste so bad. I myself is Cantonese and have a lot of bbq deli either from HK, Vancouver or LA. And I must say this taste nothing like what I had. The pork skin looks crispy and good, but it’s so salty. I mean salty to the point my tongue is hurting from it. The meat is just alright and not enough flavor. Seems like they just rub a lot of salt on the skin to marinate. The noodle I thought will be the simplest to make but it taste so sweet. In this type of noodle they should use oyster sauce but instead I don’t know how they make it to be so sweet like you are eating candy or something. The chicken suppose to be their famous dish but it doesn’t taste any better than other places. Soy sauce chicken suppose to taste more towards a light soy sauce flavor but instead I only taste sweet like sugar. The meat is soft which is good, but overall, i won’t be coming back anymore. And another thing, the soup has so much of white pepper powder taste that there is not a good texture of winter melon taste in it. Seems like they just add winter melon and white pepper powder with chicken powder to cook this soup. Very bad for a price of $219 ntd for the pork and noodle set. Additional $90 ntd for just the soy sauce chicken. Is this suppose to be Singapore version of Cantonese food? If it is, I’m sorry to say that the taste is not what I would go for again.

Pretty good, less than 200 NTD for a meal so not that expensive considering the location. Got pork and soy sauce chicken, the pork was better.

Nice pork ribs with rice. Easy to swallow and reco for the forienger :)

Passed by this place strolling through the 101 food court... Noticed the Michelin star as well as the strangely low ratings! Haha… so really wanted to try for myself. Seems most of the bad ratings were for the high price. I got the double: soy chicken + boiled scallion chicken with rice. For the Michelin packaging and high end food court vibe the set meal was 218 which I thought was reasonable. In the US or Hong Kong this would be at least 50% more expensive ! The hole in the wall Cantonese BBQ place I go to near Taipei Station with questionable hygiene, terrible service attitude, and no soup would cost about 150 with less chicken. They also upgraded me to a soy chicken leg here ;) As for the taste: the chicken was juicy and tender with very good flavor, the soy chicken could have been heated up more though. The heavy sweet sauce on the rice was kind of weird and the only thing I didn't like much but maybe that's their style. Overall a definite recommendation for me but go for the double like I did ;)

I don't know what are people complaining. Had chicken, with egg and rice for 140ntd. It's more than good for that price. Will buy again.

Not sure about the low ratings. I had an affordable meal considering the location. 185 NTD for a huge portion of chicken soya rice. The chicken was very tender. Everything was on point. Of they make every dish like this it's hard to believe the low ratings.
