★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Awesome museum about the daily life of miners in ancient Jiufen, giving detailed insights into the methods and tools used to mine gold! Particularly interesting are the details on the processes on how to extract the gold particles from the ore, super interesting, reminded me of Dagobert Duck in his young years in Klondike! :)
Museum is rather small and can easily be visited in less than one hour, and you’ll get accompanied by a guide explaining you the insights and a step-by-step demonstration of the gold mining process. Our tour was in Chinese, but I think they can also speak some English!
To get there, don’t trust Google Maps, or you’ll have to climb some stairs. Instead just go there from the end of the old town street and go down a few stair steps when you see the sign of “九份金礦博物館”.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Situated in Ruifang dist. It is the ancient site where Japanese used to operate this gold mine. You can literally enter inside the gold mine and have a look inside. There is a workshop also inside the museum where you can learn about separating gold from ores. You can even buy gold ores from the small shops outside. But I am not sure, how authentic those ores are. Its accessible by bus and taxi from Ruifang railway station

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This place is a great addition to Jiufen. Not to be confused with the larger (Jinguashi Gold Mine Museum) nearby, the Jiufen Goldore Museum is a quaint little museum setup in tribute to Jiufen’s gold mining heritage.
Here you can learn all about Jiufen’s gold mining history including the old equipment used for the gold extracting and refining processes. It's walking distance from the Old Street and tickets come with a complementary guided tour.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The place itself is enjoyable. From Taipei you can get here by taxi or bus. I really enjoyed the scenery here. It's nice to be out from town. There is restaurants inside but would be nice if you bring your own food just for sure. It only takes less than 2 hour to finish the place.
