Love at First Bite-Bakery Cafe(北部第一家芝加哥深盤披薩專賣-Chicago Deep Dish Pizza)

We LOVED the food but staff is terrible. They forgot one dish, made a mistake with our dessert, we had to beg for utilities. And they refused to make 2 receipts for us to split the bill. The first time i had that bad experience in Taipei. Chairs are a bit destroyed as well.... So bad because the pizza is awesome!

First off, there are very few decent pizza places in Taiwan. This is already one of the better ones. Having said that, I'm from the SF Bay Area, home of the Little Star and Zachery Pizza. The deep dish here has all the "elements": crust, cheese, sauces stacked correctly in the right amount. However, it is seriously lacking flavor. I don't mean salt. I mean herbs that haven't lost taste, good pepperoni's, aged pizza dough that yeast has time to develop depth. None of those were there. Home made tomatoes sauce felt bland, none of the herbs seasonings/spice showed through. The onions were under cooked in the pizza, and the dough had no character, just a structure. If this shop was to open in the Bay Area, it would totally fail. The pizza is about the quality made by tech companies' lunch cafeteria. It's hard for the staff to improve if they haven't had really decent pizza in their life. I suspect the owners must have had some.

Oh! Another enormous place to eat with your great friends! SUPER GOOD food and drinks ! ??❤️ the deep pizza taste is beyond my expectation! Definitely will go back here again since we haven't tried the tiramisu yet! Keep it up ... and oh yeah atmosphere and personnel are really nice - English Chinese all good!

We had our lunch here and celebrated my birthday together. As an extremely cheese-addicted person like me, we had planned for a long time to visit (worship?) the American-styled restaurant, where the Chicago deep dish pizza is their spotlight! What's more, this kind of deep dish pizza is rarely sold in Taiwan! We ordered a 6-inch pizza to share with, which looked smaller than a birthday cake, including lots of mozzarella cheese❤️, bacon, chicken, green pepper, mushroom, purple onion and absolutely barbecue sauce. Btw, you had better order a deep dish pizza in advance for the reason that it took more than 40 mins to bake one! Besides, we also ordered some ribs served with fries, which looked not only appetizing but indeed tasted flavorful, leaving a pleasant aftertaste in your mouth.? Last but not least, a piece of Tiramisù was served as a birthday present for me at the end in this lunch. Bravo~Hope to come back again soon?

Diet-busting good food and pleasant service. Will definitely be back. Good service started from when I made the reservation. The receptionist asked me whether I wanted to pre-order a deep-dish pizza, which takes time to prepare. We ordered a Big Bite Burger, ribs and house platter. The house platter of Buffalo wings, onion rings, Mozzarella sticks, and fries is as expected. The ribs are very tender and juicy. The meat separates from the bones easily and is flavorful even without the sauce. The coleslaw has just the right acidity to go with the ribs. A good while after placing order, I asked whether it was possible to replace the hamburger buns with lettuce. I was half expecting them to say "no, it's too late" or something like that. But they just complied readily. And a couple minutes later they brought me my burger beautifully wrapped in lettuce. The onion ring topping adds some crunchiness to each bite and is quite a nice touch. It would have been nice if they offered bleu cheese topping, though. The New York cheesecake is much denser than the airy Japanese style ones commonly found here. Personally, I'd like it to be even thicker. But it's a matter of personal preference.

I haven't been to the state so I do not know what is an authentic deep dish pizza should taste like, but I think the deep dish offered in this place is close enough to its place of origin. Chicago deep dish pizza is made up side down, cheese on the bottom and sauce on the top, probably due to the sauce is separated by the cheese, so the deep thick crust that ends up chewy and crunchy even after you finished all the delicious toppings first. Apart from the pizza, the cakes from this shop is also a must try, creamy cheese cake and decadent chocolate cake is smooth in texture, rich in flavor, one thing I love the most about the cake is it is not overly sweet. I had a great first time experience here and will definitely come back for more.

Ok I took a first bite, then second, then I ended up had three slices. It’s not bad, but is it pizza tho……I am happy to have it as a overly cheesy pie and let’s schedule a pizza fix soon? 20220514

The chicago-style deep dish, while not quite as good overall as BBP, is not bad! And doesn’t have the typical Taiwanese bakery butter smell. ^^; Very cheesy and enough meat. Burgers are also good with a light grilled flavor; the only thing they’re missing are some pickles to balance out the oil and salt. The soup with their set is also better than average, although slightly sweeter due to this being Taiwan. Beer-battered onion rings unfortunately aren’t what I was hoping for. Would be worth it if they were twice as thick cut with a little more batter and crispier. Until I make it out to Linkou, if I ever get another deep dish craving this store will do! Or even for their milkshakes and burgers if the occasion arose…
