★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very nice spot. Well kept and a small memorial plaque with small recap of the historic significance. Some additions around the wall to keep it upright while leaving one side original is a nice touch so it’ll be there many years to come. Only gripe is there is ZERO shade near the wall. If you want to sit and ponder a moment it’ll be elsewhere.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is the remains of the Japanese prison built during the Japanese occupation of Taiwan. It was built in around 1910 using the stones from the original city wall. During the occupation , but before WW2 local Taiwanese were imprisoned here too. During WW2 allied pilots that were shot down or who crashlanded on Taiwan, were also imprisoned here and in Tainan. I could not find the remains of the south wall.
