Lonely Planet says this place is good for a late evening stroll. But I think it's probably better to go when the galleries and studios are open, otherwise what's the point? The area seems interesting enough but none of the buildings are particularly eye-catching or special.

Went there pretty late at night so didnt get the chance to interact with anyone form the community but the place is really interesting. Its a great place to get to know the local art scene and see what is being created by local artists. Its fun and a great experience to walk about such a unique neighborhood.

You can walk through the whole village within 1-2 hours, but it's better to go on Sat or Sun, more store will be open. I love the walk because it's very quent, peaceful and free, also close to the shopping district near Gungguan MRT and the night market, as well as the NTU campus, you can do that all within half of day.

You could spend 2 hours here easily. Not many studios open today, but the community itself is an exhibition ;) I’ve lived in Taipei for almost 40 years and this is the first time I visit here. Some of the residents’ stories are very similar to my grandparents past and the decor of their home too. It’s the side of the city I never saw before yet it’s not entirely alien. Covid info: Staff check visitors temperature at entrance and provide hand sanitizer too.

This is an artist village with boutique shops, artist studios, and art displays. There is the Treasure Hill Temple built back in 1791 before the entrance to the artist village. Unfortunately, the village seems really rundown. Very few stores were opened on a Friday afternoon, most were empty closed stores. Others had people inside, but not open to the public. Other open displays either indoor or outside seems very old. The village seems dead. Unless you have extra time in hand and near the neighborhood, otherwise I would not recommend. Check out their website when there is special events then visit the place, there might be more to see during those days.

Hippie site of Taipei. Poorly organized and maintained. Public space intertwined with private one, with blurred gray area in between. Lots of “artists” do “experimental display” here. Not for the masses for sure. But with right pairs of eyes and some new angles, it is a treasure that’s undervalued. Not much space for people to try new things nowadays.

I honestly have 0 memory why I decided to visit… it’s not far from Taiwan university like 10-15 mins walk max. However, the whole place was completely empty. Maybe it’s due to Covid and it was a weekend. The trip was pretty short, took approx 15 mins to walk around as “in deep” tour. This place requires a bit more maintain… the coffee & bar was nice through

Cool concept but underwhelming in execution. Not a lot of shops - most buildings seemed closed on a Sunday afternoon. Small studios with minimal wares. The one cafe and restaurant there are very small and get filled up fast. Still a neat place to check out, especially for the wall art, but it’s more of a side activity than a main activity.
