★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is the anchor point of Taipei, if not the whole island. It serve lots of purpose for the city. It’s a financial hub, traffic hub, commercial hub, entertainment hub, and also where the capital government located. Oh and the surrounding residential real estate price is just ridiculous. It’s not even for the top 1% of the population, more like 0.0001%.
Still, this place is a hard evidence of how a hyper capitalist + socialist regime stay functional to a degree for the moment. Fragile, vibrant, and full of surprises.
