This is where the Ximen of Taipei Castle, from which Ximending was named. A cute model is displayed. "Ximending" is in Japanese. Taipei Castle was built during the Qing Dynasty, and had gates in the north, south, east and west. With the north gate as the main gate, the most luxurious one is the west gate. The Ximen was destroyed during the Japanese rule due to land readjustment. #letsguide #Japanese rule #Taipei Castle

Ximending, which everyone often goes to, is actually outside the west gate of Taipei City.

Small Monument Like a Lilliput... West Gate of Taipei City, The official name is Baochengmen, It was originally located in front of Zhongzheng District and Ximending in today's Taipei City, Taiwan. destroyed in 1904, It is the only city gate to be demolished in Taipei City. Construction began in the eighth year of Guangxu (1882). It was completed in the tenth year of Guangxu (1884). The gate site is located at the traffic hub connecting the Mengka business district and the traffic in the city. Local people take the meaning of "treasure achievement", Take this gate as "Baocheng Gate". The West Gate is a bunker-style city gate that can withstand artillery attacks. It is also a Xieshan double-eave building with two-story eaves like the largest South Gate in Taipei City. also, There are three Ximen Fortresses, There is one more than the east gate, north gate and south gate. Two of the forts correspond to the current streets, About 1,510 meters to the south and 10 meters to the north at the intersection of Zhonghua Road and Kaifeng Street. In order to avoid the conflict between Zhangzhou from Fangqiao and Sanyi from Mengka Quanzhou at Ximen, Lin Weiyuan, then the prime minister of Taipei's fortifications, built the Xiaonan Gate at his own expense. It is specially used for Zhangzhou people to enter and exit.

I liked the place and atmosphere where important things of Dragon Quest or Zelda sleep a long time ago. This is where the West Gate of Taipei City was originally located.

Very small landmark, there used to be the most gorgeous double-storey pavilion in Taipei, but unfortunately it was demolished due to the development of the city. However, if it had not been demolished, Ximending may not be so prosperous today. As the gate of the past, Ximending is still waiting for Ximending today.

The west gate of the old Taipei City wall once stood here to guard the safety of Taipei people about one hundred years ago. The walls was built by local businessmen and the fund was raised from ordinary people. The Japanese torn down the walls during their occupation period when they think the wall no longer serve it's purpose as a defense against bandits and outlaws. You can find similar guard tower style gates a few hundred meters from this gate call the North Gate and the Little South Gate, they've been preserved by the government from the petition and the will of Taipei people. The place is right next to the MRT Ximen stations exit, it's very easy to access.
