Alishan House

Very nice. Our room was in the newest building and was spacious and with a small balcony. Breakfast buffett was only so so. No omelettes. A huge stack of prepared fried eggs, meaning that the they were sitting there for a while, cold and getting greasy. The youtiao (油條）were cold and dry. Dinner was similar, some dishes were quite good, others overcooked and dry, but good bread.

Serving spoiled food... The staff were friendly but I still cannot understand why they gave spoiled food. Why they did not check before serving.. I paid almost 10,000 nt,, but this trip really remains a bad memory. I never want to go again. Make sure the food is okay when you eat it.

Relatively old hotel, which shows in particular when it comes to the amenities. However, the friendly staff, great view and comfy rooms make up for the shortcomings. Rooms are clean for the most part, and the hotel offers a spa, restaurant, and a 50s-themed cafe. Due to the location high up in the mountains, guests are urged to save easter by refraining from taking baths. Understandable, really. Oh, pricing is rather steep!

This is the most expensive hotel yet the best in Alishan. Rooms are spacious, clean, well-maintained (even though it’s not a new hotel), and the staff were very helpful, friendly and professional. There is a viewing platform at the top of the hotel providing amazing views of the sunset. The Cherry King and the best part of the cherry blossom boardwalk are just across the road. Dinner and Breakfast are Great. Lunch was a bit disappointing. Overall, the best choice when you are looking for a good stay in Alishan.

It's a bit old but acceptable because staying within the reserve is literally steps away from many hiking trails (and you don't have many options within the reserve anyway).

An excellent choice if you want to experience Alishan 360°. It's a bit further compared to the other hotels but you can get here the silence and the peaceful environment far from noises and pollution. They offer shuttle buses every 30 minutes to the train station. I found the cleaning of the rooms perfect, even for the stay the room was perfectly done with clothes folded on the bed and everything tidy up. You can't go wrong here for Alishan!

Highlight: (1) the location, it’s the closest towards many famous trials, and sitting in the center of the national forest reserve. (2) the staff, front desk and restaurant members were pretty supportive Lowlight and where the deducted 2 stars came from (1) the room design in the new building was just far less worthwhile than its price; -1 the wash area including restroom, bath room and sinks are not separated with doors from the beds, so it’s pretty transparent from people lying/ sitting on the beds to see people using the wash area. Also if there’s anyone using the toilet at night the light would immediately wake those in bed. -2 the washlet was not fully cleaned, just check the cleaness of the washlet water pouring stick before using it -3 the exhaust fan in the toilet was not cleaned and was stuck with much dust -4 the quality of food served in the buffet was just way below the price set ( esp. comparing to silk place or other hotels of similar range of pricing) -5 the sound proof of the room was not well equipped, at night or early morning if there were other guests passing by talking/ laughing a bit louder ppl in the room could be much disturbed -6 the pillows were too soft which could hardly support the neck -7 the fridge at the room was so loud and it’s motor would suddenly start running in the middle of the night I would not recommend staying unless highly interested in the historical building, there are still some higher quality options around, just require some more travel time to the reserve, yet since Alishan is so big it is totally worth exploring further beyond this reserved area.

Best hotel inside the Alishan Scenic Area. Great location within the park and comfortable rooms. Unfortunately the hotel's environmental policies are stuck in the past. They provide water in plastic bottles, shower gel and shampoo come in small plastic bottles, and toothbrushes and razors are disposable. I could only find two public water dispensers: one in the lobby and one in the breastfeeding room. Given that the property is located in a natural sanctuary, you would think they would make an effort to preserve the environment!
