Gorgeous courtyards between many buildings on this historic street. Everything has a cinematic quality to it and most have been so well- preserved. In my opinion, this oldest street of Taipei is a must visit spot. It was a very long street and we decided to have a rest in one of its many cafes. Though coffee/tea prices were on the higher side but for such romantic spots it was well worth it. We managed to find a cafe that has courtyard seating.. hmm..'In the mood for love' anyone?

Traditional Taiwanese street, we all visit her before Chinese New Year to purchase food or goods to prepare. Here has a lot of traditional build at each government stage. Recommend you to have walk and hang out.

Yearly Chinese New Year goodies open air street, usually open for two weeks leading up to the festival. Crowded and bustling in the evenings especially, as families and friends gather to walk through and buy stuff. The items sold are mainly: - assorted nuts - dried goods (seafood) - seaweed crackers - sweets and jellies

One of the more interesting streets of Taipei. Very pleasant to wander around the lanes. There are some signs in English to help you understand the different shops located in the lanes. Don’t forget to look up and admire the old facades. There are plenty of small boutiques selling food, tea, gifts.

Walking up and down Dihua Street is a great visual experience. Many shops including tailors, dry fruits of all types, gummy bears with Taiwanese flavour, tea sets for the tea collectors, items for the Chinese New Year and other celebrations. The street is full of architecture landmarks for those who are appreciative on the values of lines and shapes. Many Taiwanese delicatessen to purchase. Moreover, the temple nearby is a "sacred spaces" with the appreciation of ritualistic events. Fruits bars with organic Taiwanese taste are offered in some stores. Dihua Street is a plus place for anyone visiting Taipei!!!!

Good place to soak up the atmosphere, but not really the place to hunt for bargains. If money is not an issue then you'll be able to find some really high quality dry goods. The market nearby was mostly empty by the time i arrived at around 4pm, so get there early if you're interested. Food stalls outsides were in full swing though, so no problem getting a bite to eat. Beware, the smell of stinky tofu was very strong by the entrance, so try to walk around it, if possible, if you're not a fan.

Highly recommended for tourist to visit especially near Chinese New Year. The street was bustling with people selling many CNY's food and stuffs, and the lanterns make the street even prettier at night. There's an amazingly fresh and great strawberry daifuku sold at a small stand here, with very long queue line, there're also some stinky tofu shops that you should not miss. Other than that, there's a really famous dessert shop, a famous "pork paper" shop too. Don't forget to also pray at their God of Love temple ! So many interesting shops ~ the architecture also different, you can feel the western influence here.

I really recommend this place for those who visit Taipei and also expat who stay in Taipei. The old street that was renovated , full of interesting shop mix between old style traditional style and contemporary with western. This place give you all the Taipei local shopping venue and in the same time you can experience variety of street foods. Must visit period is 1-2 weeks before Chinese new year.
