★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great view of Taipei 101! It’s a little bit of a walk from the MRT station but there’s an interesting street market and a beautiful temple along the way.
This is an easy hike that’s not too steep of an incline. Plus Taipei 101 is visible almost the whole time. It was not crowded when I went.
If you follow the roads long enough, you’ll end up at the top of Elephant Mountain Hiking Trail.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ in chinese, HuShan means mountain of tiger. located right next to elephant mountain. trail entrance is 10 minutes walk from Xian Shan(elephant mountain) mrt station. 30 minutes walk to the top point, 50 minutes round trip. forest covered almost all path. it's cool place to go in spring, fall and winter.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Its amazing to be able to take the train to go for a hike in the jungle. We walked from Houshanpi station and happily wandered for hours through this sacred mountain. It was pouring rain when we went, so all the giant snails and frogs came out and the creeks and waterfalls were joyful! There are a lot of stairs, great workout while admiring beautiful large ferns and canopies of trees.
